Happy Mother's Day

I had a nice Mother's Day. I woke up and then lazed about in bed and read for a while. I debated being a total slug and just going back to sleep and had just set down my book and closed my eyes when I heard Allissa sneaking in. I opened my eyes and looked at her and she froze for a second, then she gave a sheepish smile and thrust a folded up paper at me and ran out of the room. I guess she was trying to put it on my pillow so I could find it when I woke up. It was a Mother's Day Card she had made. On the cover she apologised for forgetting to get me a card and hoped I would be happy with the one she had made. Do children not listen or what? I've always told her I liked the homemade ones best. Anyway, it was so cute. There was a picture of her and Charley and she had written some really sweet things. I should scan it, so that I'll always have it even if the original gets destroyed. Technology is awsome, isn't it? Anyway, I went to her room and gave her a big hug. We had a nice day even though we didn't do too much. We went to the soup place we like and then went and washed the car. Other than that, we just hung around the house and cleaned and did laundry. Boring, I know! Trivia night is about the only fun thing I've been doing lately. There's a local pub that hosts a trivia competition on Thursdays and I've started going again. It's fun. I hadn't been since Cliff left because I always feel guilty about leaving Allissa home while I am out having fun, but she always encourages me to go. Anyway, we won three weeks ago, but we've lost the last two weeks. This past Thursday, a team was caught cheating. The team that won the previous week, as it turns out. Hmmmm. I knew last week when it was announced that they had won with 39 out of 40 that they must have cheated. It was much harder than it normally is and had some really arcane questions. I am not saying that my team was the most intelligent team there and that it is impossible for us to lose, but we're not a bunch of idiots. If we had trouble, chances are nearly every other team did as well, so for a team to come out of nowhere with an almost perfect score is awfully suspicious. I hate cheaters!! It's not even as if there is a huge prize. It's for 3 pitchers of cheap beer. I don't even drink it when we win. I just like being able to say we won. I know, not very modest, but I'm a tad bit competitive. Even so, a large prize would not make cheating any more excusable. What is society coming to?
